Matthew DePasquale has been an active member of the Bay Area music scene since 2008.
Originally from New Jersey, he studied under the tutelage of Donald Batchelder, obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University ('07). In 2008, he moved across the country to study with David Bukhart and Mario Guarneri, earning his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music ('10).
He has had the opportunity to perform with numerous Bay Area ensembles, including The Santa Cruz Symphony, Oakland Ballet, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Stockton Symphony, San Francisco Choral Society, San Francisco City Chorus, Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra, Merced Symphony, Symphony Napa Valley, The Magik*Magik Orchestra, and the San Francisco Choral Society, among others.
He has also shared the stage with several rock and indie artists, including Sting, Chicago, Third Eye Blind, Chris Botti, The Walkmen, Evanescence, and the Mason Bates EDM/Classical hybrid ensemble Mercury Soul.
Matthew also serves as Principal Conductor of the Joy Luck Music Chamber Orchestra, and Sven and the Masterful Orchestra.
As an educator, he teaches private trumpet, piano, and guitar lessons in to over 30 students weekly, and coaches trumpet sectionals for several ensembles throughout the Bay Area. He holds a master’s degree in Classical Trumpet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, a bachelor of music degree in Classical Trumpet Performance from John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University, an Elementary Piano Education Certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and was selected as a Featured performer at the Hotel Utah and Balance Breakfast Songwriter's Showcase.
